Solomon Douglas Swingtet (Swing, Lindy, Blues, Charleston in the LINDY BALLROOM)Solomon Douglas is a jazz pianist and bandleader, whose various bands have played at more than fifty exchanges, camps, workshops, and other events in North America, Asia, and Australia. His experience as a swing dancer and dance instructor gives him an understanding unique among musicians of the music that swing dancers and blues dancers like to dance to and WHEN! The Solomon Douglas Swingtet is a little big band whose repertoire is rooted in that of the Basie band (One O'Clock Jump, Jive at Five, Splanky, Shorty George, Shiny Stockings) and that of the Ellington band (Cottontail, “C” Jam Blues, Mood Indigo, Take The “A” Train), with other big-band standards and classic jazz tunes thrown in as well. The Solomon Douglas Swingtet makes frequent appearances at large venues such as the Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom (DC) and the Century Ballroom (Seattle), and has played at many internationally-attended dance events.
Hellbound Hepcats (RAB, Rockabilly Jive in the JIVE ROOM)
The Hellbound Hepcats are bringing back the sound of the 1950's with an aggressive, big-beat twist-seamlessly fusing elements of Johnny Burnette, Chuck Berry and Brian Setzer with the pure energy of rockabilly. These hardworking rock'n'rollers combine the rawness and passion of the Sun Studio sessions with a harder, faster, more hip-shaking rhythm that is all their own. The Hellbound Hepcats' music reflects the rebellious spirit of early rock n' roll without imitating it. Their originality adds a much-needed new spin to the current rockabilly scene and we are just extremely excited to have this awesome band part of CSC this year.
Here are your 2010 DJs:
"Danny-O" Toye
Danny has been wih CSC since day 1, back in the day when it was called the ECSC. He bailed Dee out of a major jam when his head DJ bowed out at the last minute for personal reasons. Since then Danny has never ceased becoming more and more an essential part of what makes CSC a success year in and year out. To find Danny-O during the CSC weekend, simply look over at the DJ table, where he's been working around the clock as the Head DJ since the event's first year. His vast experience, versatility in a wide variety of music styles, strong dedication and utmost professionalism are some of the assets that he brings to the staff. Indeed, Danny is an essential part of the event as he is actually responsible not only for competition music but also all DJ and band bookings and logistics. After the competitions are over, and the band has stopped playing, his work is still not done... You can head on over to the Party Room on Sunday night, where Danny-O keeps the music flowing well into the next morning!
Abdel Présumé
Hails from Tampa, FL where he began DJing in 1999. Since then he has traveled the nation and abroad to DJ in countless cities and at over 100 events including ALHC, Camp Jitterbug, and Herrang. When he's not traveling for dance gigs, Abdel produces events like Gulf Regionals, Battle of the Cities and more, teaches lindy classes, and of course, DJ's regularly in Tampa. In Abdel's home, two colossal bookshelves storing hundreds of CDs stand testament to his love for music, particularly jazz music. Although his collection spans 9 decades of artists, it is Abdel's knowledge of the music that enables him to become a conduit between the dancers and the music, establishing connections between each of the songs that keep the dancers anticipating each new development in an evening. By maintaining both a variety and a flow of music, Abdel ensures that the dancers remain invigorated and excited, inspiring them to adapt as the music evolves over the course of an evening.
Sergio Loreto
Sergio has been DJing Swing Music for over a decade. He is the co-founder of Swing Affair, the organizers of SoFlex, one of the most successful and long-standing national exchanges. Sergio's taste in music range from the 1920's to today, and over the past few years he has been bitten by the Blues bug. A variety of styles are nicely weaved together in his sets to give the dancers a great variety in tempos. During the last few years his travels took him to DJ gigs at various events like the Y8A Blues Party, Herrang Dance Camp, various Blues parties and Exchange stops at Atlanta, San Francisco, Austin, London, Amsterdam, Moscow, Munich and Dublin among others.
Claudia Petrilli
DJs and organizes the Saturday Night Swing events in Ottawa. She is also often behind the "turntables" (dated) for OSDS and Boathouse events in her local scene. Her specialties are around vintage swing, blues and gospel. She has a particular soft spot for so-called "Hot Jazz" and "Soul" from all decades. These are the reasons she has been invited to Toronto, Montreal, Quebec and events such as CSC, CBC and CSQ. .

Dan Amores
Dan Amores' appreciation of music started when he was young. Growing up in a musical family and with the exposure of the swingin' and soul sounds of Motown, his understanding and interpretation of the relationship of music and dance grew into the dancer and DJ he is today. As a DJ, he keeps the floor swingin', swayin', movin' and groovin'.
“If I can't dance to it, I won't play it!!” -Dan
He has DJ-ed around the world and has brought his skills as a DJ for both competitions and social dances at swing dance events in Europe, the United States and Canada. When he is not traveling, he teaches at and runs his own dance studio, Hogtown Swing Dance Studio. He also hosts weekly Tuesday night and monthly Friday night dance socials in Toronto, Ontario where he lives. www.HogtownSwing.com
Myles Munroe (Westie/Blues room)
What
can we say? Myles travels to all reaches of the globe teaching,
competing and performing at West Coast Swing conventions and workshops.
He knows his Westie music. Myles is a big fan of yummy R&B, dirty
Blues, classic Funk, and current radio grooves. Ain't no
honky-tonk-overplayed-cheese-music in this house! Myles is
also passionate about Blues music - the history, the rhythm, and the
expression, and got loads of ecstatic compliments on his Blues set at
last year's event. Blues is the bridge between Lindy and WCS and Myles
is your fearless guide.
Ed Reaney
One of Ottawa's longest running swing dance DJ's, Ed has been a staple DJ at all feature events in the capital. He has spun at a remarkable variety of venues, including; dance studios, ballrooms, bars, house parties, competitions, exchanges, national events, and star-lit dance floors on the beach. Ed is a versatile DJ, whose love and passion for the music are evident in his sets along with a tongue and cheek sense of humor. Spinning from an eclectic mix of vintage & blues, Motown to funk he like to share “feel good music”, where ever it is found while managing to keep the music entertaining and solid.
Jody Glanzer
A veteran guest at exchanges and national events, Jody has been a renowned blues specialist since before the wave of blues dancing popularity hit. Enamored with the blues for as long as she can remember, she is drawn to the rawness, passion, soul, intensity of emotion. The sheer humanity of it, makes her feel alive! While spinning, Jody likes to play and share with the dancers and aspires to highlight Canadian content as much as possible. Whether she's playing some kickin' R&B, swingin' it old school style, funking out, "shoutin' hallelujah!" to an inspiring Gospel set, or getting downright carnal, sweaty & intense blues session, she tries to create a flow and help shape the mood or tone. Lindyhop, Blues, WCS, Balboa, or whatever she'll spin for it and you know, its going be fun!
